We are opening up the Confederation Park Warming Hut for the ski season and we are looking for hosts to take care of the hut and welcome our skiers, coaches and families. 

As a warming hut volunteer, your role is to create a welcoming and safe environment for skiers and their families. Each shift is staffed by two volunteers who are to stay in the warming hut. Here's what you'll do:

Suggest casual, non-member users purchase a trail pass to support the park.

Provide Assistance

Direct visitors outside for washrooms and garbage disposal.

Ensure Space Guidelines are Followed

Glass Room: Reserved for coaches only.

Entrance Area: Open to everyone, boots are permitted.

Main Area: A "boots-off" gathering space; clothing changes should be done behind the curtained area when available.

Lost and Found

Place the lost-and-found bin outside during your shift and bring it back in at the end of the night.

Track Visitors

Record the number of visitors on the clipboard.

Note Feedback

Write down any suggestions or questions from guests, including contact information if they request a follow-up.

Clean Up

Wipe down table tops with Lysol wipes.

Vacuum the floors if necessary.

Assistance coaching adult programming at Confed

Volunteer Lead

Stadium Lead

Set up biathlon range including moving mats, rifle racks and range recording equipment.  Location is on-site at the Canmore Nordic Centre.  Specific details and meeting location will be provided closer to the race date.

Organizing Committee Chair

Manage the Competition office, organizing official and volunteer forms, bibs, registration and supporting the organizing committee and timing service.

Arrange purchase, pick up and/or delivery and set up of food for volunteer lunch and finish line refreshments.

This role provides on-site first aid support to the race athletes, coaches and volunteers.  Need to have First Aid or Medical qualifications.

Help keep our athletes and volunteers fueled!  Role will pick up pre-paid grocery orders in Calgary and/or Canmore, transport them to Canmore and deliver to the Biathlon Building during the afternoon of March 24th.  Must have a truck or van that can haul large loads and be comfortable lifting and unloading boxes.   

Take down course including fencing, barricades, flagging and safety equipment.  Location is on-site at the Canmore Nordic Centre.  March 24 and 27 are Training Days. Specific details and meeting location will be provided closer to the race date.

This role takes the stadium equipment, including fencing, barricades, flagging and signage, down immediately after the last race of the day. Take down all range equipment as directed by the range lead immediately after last race or training session of the day. Times vary between Race and Training days.  Location is on-site at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Meet at the biathlon stadium after last race is finished.

This role will support the Timing Lead by setting up the timing equipment in the stadium and around the course.

Help the Finish/Volunteer Food Coordinator with organizing, distributing and monitoring food and drinks during the event.  

Course Recorders/Callers are positioned in groups of 2 at key locations on course to record athletes as they go by.  You will be on course for the morning and afternoon races with a break for lunch. Location is at the Canmore Nordic Centre. Specific details and pre-race meeting location will be provided closer to the race date.

This position is out on the race course during the event to provide maintenance at key locations using shovels and/or rakes.  You will be out for both the morning and afternoon races with a break for lunch. Specific details and pre-race meeting location will be provided closer to the race date.

This role provides pre and finish line equipment inspection including skis, numbers are placed on both legs and rifles are marked and meet requirements. This crew is also at the finish line to check rifle safety (chamber and bolts) and that at least one ski has the appropriate markings.

This role supports the Stadium Lead with Stadium operations during the races.  Includes handling timing transponders, bibs, controlling crossing points and other stadium activities.

This role is located on the biathlon range during the races.  You will be responsible for operating an electronic range recorder to track the number of targets hit for scoring purposes for the athletes.  Training is provided at volunteer check in. Additional details on meeting time will be provided closer to the race.

This role maintains the shooting mats during the race by sweeping snow and other debris as required.  May also help with other tasks on the range as required by the Range Lead.

RSO Required.  This role observes range activities, with the support of the Range Lead and Deputy Lead, during the race to watch for problems and take action as necessary.  This role will also help to change out the paper zero targets prior to the morning and afternoon races.

This position controls access points crossing the range / track as required.

This role is responsible to operate start line equipment, manage start lists and ensure athletes start the race in accordance with the race protocols. Previous experience preferred but we can provide training if required.

Manage the athlete chips, assign them to athletes based on number and ensure collection and organization of chips at the end of each race session.

Using electronic and/or paper tools, record finish order of athletes.  

Record athlete bib numbers using electronic and/or paper tools in the penalty loop.

These volunteer roles are aimed at the parents of Dev 1/2 and Ecoaim U11/13 athletes.  Role will set up, take down and support the Biathlon Obstacle course held on Saturday.  

Volunteer Coach Needed at Maple Ridge.  Programs will run on Monday, time to be determined.

Represent Foothills at Bow Corridor Regional Race Series

Volunteer Coach - assisting with Adult Learn to Ski Programming.

We’re looking for a proactive, community-minded leader to take the reins in getting the Foothills Nordic Clubhouse ready for the season. The Clubhouse will be open for FNSC families during ski lessons, and we want it to be a warm, welcoming hub for our community. As the Clubhouse Coordinator, you will lead a small committee of parent volunteers to develop a vision, create a plan, and oversee the setup of the space.

Assist the performance coaches deliver programming

This role involves setting up the volunteer registration and tracking system, checking in volunteers, and assigning tasks. The position requires calmness under pressure, patience, and comfort with computers. You will also be the go-to person for volunteers on race days.

This position focuses on organizing refreshments and prizes, arranging for food deliveries, and managing logistics at the finish area. It involves some pre-race organization, but you will have the chance to watch the races as well.
